The person will be assigned as a team member to multiple contracts at any given point in time. He/she acts as the prime internal actor and technical contact for all matters related to instrumentation and control systems on those contracts. He/she collaborates closely with the other team members from disciplines such as Process, Piping, Pressure Vessels, CAD-design and Project Management. On the basis of UOP-standards and practices, in compliance with Client-requirements, the person will develop, redact/issue/revise all Technical UOP-specifications for his discipline. These will entail automatic control valves, instruments, control panels and cabinets, motors, etc.
Coordination from the technical side for the purchase of components and automatic valves Act as the Requisitioner for Control Systems Packages (control cabinets with PLC’s, I/O cards, barriers, drives etc) : at the level of the workshops contracted by UOP, the new hire manages the relation with and the activities of those workshops. Follow-up on panel fabrication, including Inspections.
These workshops are typically located in Asia. Liaise with the Mechanical engineer who is following up on piping and skid fabrication for each contract. The CS&I engineer will coordinate, check-out and inspect his discipline’s part during that fabrication. The job for this part too requires short-duration traveling, typically within Asia. Provide technical follow-up and inspection reports to Group Leader and Project Manager for their follow-up, to ensure technically compliant and timely delivery of units from workshops contracted by UOP.
Liaise internally and intensively with other Discipline engineers and Departments such as Procurement. Potentially provide in-office technical expertise to sales team and clients; potentially provide out-of-office technical support to clients ; these are pointwise-activities.
Typical tasks will include, but are not limited to :
- reviewing the Client’s technical specifications and extract the skid/valve/instrumentation related information
- redact and issue UOP Technical Specifications for Automatic Valves, Control Panels and instruments that are compliant with the Client’s requirements and UOP-standards and practices
- extract all relevant information from and contribute to the P&I Diagram o contact valve & instrument suppliers for information o valve datasheets o issue ITB’s
- work with designer for the skid design relating to cabling and instrumentation o pass client info o inform of deviations or specialties o technical support
- answer all technical questions related with the project for the own discipline
- follow up of the skid fabrication/assembly works at the vendors workshop (for the I&E part only) o the mechanical engineer is responsible for the coordination of the construction works at the vendors workplace with the I&E engineer’s support . o review and comment/approval of vendor procedures/drawings/docs o meetings o inspections o support o planning/coordination
- Status reports
- Project engineering tasks will include: customer correspondence, orientation meeting, installation drawings, bill of materials, layout and wiring diagrams, and factory acceptance testing.
